What's the Buzz?

1. Learning Objective: To use careful observation to identify and learn about the body parts of a  Bumblebee and discuss their function

Today we examined the Bombus terrestris or the "Buff-tailed" Bumblebee. Using a magnifying glass and tweezers we were able to move and turn over the bumblebee in the dish.

We then used our observations to name the different body parts of the Bumblebee.

2. Learning Objective: To explore, discuss and compare and contrast the lifecycles of the bumblebee and honey bee.

In a group we were provided with a set of "Lifecycle Cards." The cards have information about the bumblebee lifecycle that is relevant to each season of the year. We used a whiteboard marker to fill in the missing words and complete the sentences.
